Public exhibition of a once private space threatened by public Nothing is Private
5 bedrooms, 2 reception, large newly fitted kitchen, bathroom and second WC.Next to the world-renowned Princes Park, with good amenities, great neighbours, and excellent transport connections.
Public authorities have declared their intent to demolish this and similar houses in The Welsh Streets, Granby, and City wide. They have stated their desire to demonstrate their rational at a Public Enquiry.The artist and her neighbours have developed a keen interest in communicating about the impact of public authorities on private lives. They seek to involve many 'publics' in the debate around housing resources, personal freedom and notions of 'the common good'.
The exhibit includes the first showing of a schifli embroidered net curtain produced at Manchester Metropolitan University, genuine propaganda, and demonstrations of local culture.The venue is a private home, under threat of demolition.The artwork comprises an external 24 hr window display, with tours of the house and garden available by appointment. Special events and tours of this and other compulsory purchase order lands will be announced via the Independent web site.
Access : the external display is accessible. There is no wheelchair access to the interior at the present time.
