Liverpool’s first international audiovisual (AV) festival will explore the intrinsic link between live visuals, film and music. Local and international artists collaborating to produce a large – scale video installation (15th – 19th Sept) and an outdoor AV festival (20th Sept), which will transform the Mersey Tunnel Air Vent, into a spectacular array of colour, light and sound. Live Performance and collaboration on the 20th Sept will include Addictive TV (#1 VJ's in the world - DJ Magazine Poll), Flat – e and Ultre (Warp) and local AV collective Kinetic Fallacy. A specially commissioned projected installation onto the façade of the 1930's Air Vent, from NOMO (NYC/David Byrne) and local artist Jacqueline Passmore (Ladytron / Stereolab) will take place 15th - 19th Sept 2008. The Living City - Monday 15th September 2008 Static Gallery, Roscoe Lane The Living City Bike-in screening is a free, public, open-air film screening event modeled after the classic American drive-in movie theatre. The Bike in will invite carbon neutral attendees such as bicyclists, pedestrians and skateboarders to a curated program of international and local short films which celebrate and explore experimental uses of urban environment. After the event a cycle route will be given to all bikers and attendees to make their way down to the Mersey Air vent to see the opening of the urban city video installation which will be projected onto the whole of the South Facing side of the vent. Wednesday 17th Sept - The Bluecoat, School Lane The Smith Quartet with specially commissioned visuals. An exceptionally unique Audio Visual performance combining The Smith Quartet (strings and electronics) with specially commissioned visuals from the best up and coming local Liverpool visual artists. Steve Reich's 'Different Trains' will be performed. |
