| | | | This site-specific installation consists of a continuous vinyl printed image of disease cells which invades the building. These tiny universes of cells are my starting point from which I explore the dynamics of abstraction and question traditional notions of beauty. The fascination of the unseen world of the microcosms has held the imagination of artists and scientists alike since ancient times. We are constantly presented with figurative images, such as trees and portraits, as pleasing artwork. I aim to provoke the viewer's perceptions of what we should consider pleasing to the eye. In presenting a series of subtle and alluring images I entice the audience into a consideration of the hidden taboo of disease. My work invites an inquiring response from the viewer, communicating ideas of beauty versus disgust, fragility versus strength, and the visible versus the invisible. | Venue Details
