Wirral-based artist with a studio at home. Working mainly in acrylic but I plan to work in oils in the future.
I am interested in the impressionistic style and sometimes work in pointillism.
For the Liverpool Independents Biennial I am working on a series of paintings inspired by the lyrics of the songs of the Beatles. These are done using ‘ribbons of colour’ and using ‘psychedelic’ contrasting and harmonising colours.
When I was a teenager in the 1950’s and 60’s I spent Saturdays in the studio of Gladys Dawson RA, R.C.A. (later Gladys Woodruff).
Although Gladys herself worked mainly in watercolour, she introduced me to oils, watercolour, pastel, charcoal, pen and ink and scraperboard.
I was involved with a local drama group and at the age of 17 I decided to go to Cardiff College of Music and Drama and acquire a degree in Education Drama and Theatre.
I always knew that one day I would take up painting again and sure enough, after all this time, I have returned to my first love – that of painting.
